Anyone running 55gr Vmax through a 1:9 twist 6BR?

I'm thinking about running this combo to see what the results will be like, but I wonder if others have already done something similar. If so, what were the results like?

Just a WAG, but I doubt a 1-9 has the freebore to put a 55 vmax anywhere close to the lands. I have two 1-14s that won't shoot the 55 Vmax and they have short freebores.

8Snake,
Not trying to be a wise guy, but until you give it a try, you won't know. Each rifle is different and what works on one, may not in another. Start with a clean barrel. I would load a group (5 rds) with nothing but fouler intensions and then the next group to a known successful bullet seating depth and whatever powder you think might work well. Then load a third group and seat the bullet to where it just touches the lands or .001 off the lands and see how they group. My guess is that within 20 rds total, you should have a ballpark idea whether it's worth pursuing that bullet/load or not. I've used that method on my 6mmbr with a 1:8 twist and found she loved the Bart's 68 gr FB or HPBT and hated the Berger 69/70 gr FB bullets. In comparison, I've seen some other 6mmbr's shoot those same 69's or 70gr Bergers very nicely. Just won't know how your rifle would perform until you give it a try. I've seen those 55's work alright in an AR, but have no idea what they'd do in a 6mmbr bolt gun. Good luck and have fun.

I haven't used the 55 V-Max but the 58 V-Max with Benchmark did real well in my Cooper 6BR (1-10") as did the Nosler 55 BT with Benchmark or H322.

Knowing I couldn't load them to touch the lands, I decided to use the old maxim, " a full caliber depth into the neck", as the seating criteria. The OAL for the A-Max was 2.133", the Noslers at 2.224". Accuracy was in the .3 to .4 range for 5 shots at 100 yards.

Hope this helps.

I have a 1/8.5 with a .70 freebore. They work. Just do not try to "hot rod" 58 gr Nosler work also. I use H 4198 450cciprimer(27.5 gr----caveat)

Ran the 55gr Nosler and the 58gr Vmax through a 9.125 twist. Worked fine. Need to jump into the lands & i found seating well into the neck worked better. I found a powder that worked the tried adjusting OAL in and out from the suggested length until I got the smallest groups.
