Anyone review the Magpul Hunter 700

i did, but i wanted a person on here to give a real world opinion. can believe everything on the internet.

late to the party, but I really like mine. It's a 308 HB Remington factory barrel, the MP lower assembly with the DBM. Shoots in the mid-.4's at 100. No flex.

I picked up one about a month ago for my 700 SPS Varmint .223. It had always shot decently (1/2moa 5 shot groups) but I never really liked the feel of the factory stock. The Magpul feels solid, there are no rattles or malformed plastic, it feels like a quality piece. Action dropped in without a problem, there's PLENTY of room in the barrel channel for a varmint profile barrel. Honestly, you have enough room for a bull barrel Remage if you wanted to. The results were immediate. Groups shrunk by half almost instantly. Prone from a Harris bipod I was regularly shooting 1/4" groups at 100yds with 64gn Bergers. So from a function standpoint, it works fantastic.

Now for my complaints. The comb height the stock comes with is way to damn high. I have a Zeiss Conquest 4-14x44 mounted in a set of Leupold rings and I really have to jam my cheek down on the comb to get proper sight picture. I'll have to order one of their lower height combs. The Magpul AICS bottom metal works (as in you can put a magazine in it), but magazines do not drop free. Removing a magazine is a two handed operation.

Overall, its a great upgrade over the factory stock for a pretty reasonable price.
