Any forum members purchased, shot or reloaded new ''FACTORY PRIMED'' surplus Military 223/556 brass? Any problems? How was accuracy, cycling in a Bolt Action? Any case prep before loading? Quite a bit is for sale on the net.. Just need to hear the experiences of those have bought or used New Primed Primed Surplus Military Brass in 223/5.56 cal.

Thanks

Yep, Run it through a Lee collet die with the decap pin removed. Chamfer and go. Good stuff after this easy prep

Here was the review I wrote about some a couple of years ago. If I were to do it again, I would buy new, unprimed.
"I bought 5 packs. Be aware 80% of mine had the tar sealed necks. So if you intend to run an expander through the necks, you are going to have issues. I removed it with Xylene.
I wound up losing 16 casing due to laps in the necks. This is unusually high. But extras were included, so I wound up with 494 good rounds prior to first firing.
Quite a few were heavily tarnished, more so than I would see for this recent production. Overall I'm happy, but just wanted everyone to know what to expect."

I bought the unprimed new from Midway or some such place. Had head separation on about 3 out of 100. Can't really remember the exact number. I will say, that my scores during that match were very good. After that, they had no more problems.

I know a few service rifle shooters that use the Wold Primed 223 right out of the box and shoot Master / HM scores out to 600 yards with it. Granted Service Rifle shooting 100% lines up with more the archer than the arrow but if they are doing it the brass certainly isn't the cause of many dropped points.

Most of them buy it new, load as is and then sell off as once fired for around $75 / 1000 pcs shipped.

Those that are doing this feel the brass is such a good price that it isn't worth their time doing brass prep to reload it.

Service Rifle shooters often shoot more rounds per year than most prone only shooters so it may not be the same attraction for belly or bench shooters
