I just got my first 6mmBR. It's a field gun, not bench, built on a Mod 7 action. I just fired my first 5 test shots and can see that I have the .70 large rifle firing pin hole syndrome. Those are CCI450 at close to max load. The smith everyone recommends to do the relatively simple bushing job wont take calls or any new biz. SO anyone know of a competent machininst who can help me? Thx

I'm not sure if he does bushing of bolts, but John Scandale at Keystone Accuracy would do a great job if he did. You could call and see.

@carlsbad does superb work, he would be my first choice to ask.

As others have said Carlsbad is a great choice for fixing your firing pin issue. He did one for me about 5 months ago and total turn around time was about 2 weeks and that was with shipping from New York to California and back. he also turned down my firing pin as well and the finished job was absolute perfection. Pin strikes on the primers are absolutely dead center. If I remember correctly cost was $130 and that included a new firing pin and spring. A real bargain are far as I am concerned.

My bolt is going to him today!! I just got this rifle and it has a Shilen ultra match 22in bbl screwed in to a mod7 action. Supposed to be all trued. The though of the barrel being that out of wack to throw the firing pin off center strike is not what I want to hear! This is all above my paygrade so hoping the firing pin 'shoots to the left' out of its big hole!

Shit! But if it is a factory threaded mod 7 rem receiver then it seems the receiver would be the culprit and not the barrel! How can you thread a rod so that it screws into a fitting crooked? Seems like the female fitting would have to be threaded at a slight angle to make that happen?

The thread fit can be fine, but the chamber off-center
