Anyone here using a long range camera system?

Re: Anyone here using the Target Vision camera system?

Hi Dusty,
Thanks for responding to my query.

How do you use it?
How far do you set it up?
Any advice you can offer?
Of the software provided what feature do you use the most?
What feature do you wish it had?

Thanks,

Joe

It has the repeater. I wish it had a tripod mount and actual pan tilt zoom from the app. Other than that it works great

Hi Joe

I use a Bulls eye camera out to 600 yards with my lap top . works great , just need to be on flat ground and raise the antenna to about 6 feet of the ground. clear pictures, every time new bullet hole appears on target the software marks it on the screen ... Very lazy ...but saves a lot of time running back and forth, plus mirage will blow you out with a spotting scope. I have used it at 1000 yards a couple of times but the antenna needs to be 10 to 15 feet off the ground or go bye a booster from radio shack to boost signal , just have not done that yet .. Works good there is some shooters using these things out to 1 mile with modifications of coarse ..There about 500 dollars ..but if you shoot a lot , like me ..its a big time saver . and there is no guessing if you hit the target .

Re: Anyone here using the Target Vision camera system?

Hi Guys,
I did not buy the Target Vision system because the software does not run on Windows. That's a deal breaker for me. I did buy the Bullseye camera LRE. Got it last week and Wendnesday I put it to the test.

It worked at 300 yard line, didn't work on the 600 or 1K yard line. I tried all kinds of things could not get it to work. I called Bullseye turns out that the model I have has an omni directional antenna and could benefit from a directional antenna (???) like several of you mentioned. Scott said to send it back and one way or the other they'd get me taken care of. During our conversation I discovered that their Ammo can LRE has a built in directional antenna, so for a modest upgrade fee they will send me the upgraded version. Being the eternal optimist I bought the upgrade and should have it in a couple of weeks.

However, I want to have a plan B just in case. What other cameras are out there that work at 1,000 yards? All suggestions are appreciated.

you can build one out of parts used normally for drones/FPV. Using components that you get from various hobby stores you can easily build one that goes well over 1000yds. some folks are doing a mile with these systems. the drone folks routinely fly their drones out a mile. if you search the forums, especially snipers hide you will find examples in the DYI forum.

the one i built went to 500 meters first time with no problems. I mount 4 medium sized targets at that range and the camera can see the bullet holes on all of time. However the system does not have the ability to 'blink' new shots. its simply a remote viewing system. also this doesnt require any pc or cell phone and you can use whatever screen yo want size wize to display the results.
