Anyone have experience forming .22 Vais cases from 6.5 x 55 Swede

I have two of them right now. Probably had 7 barrels in the last 15 years. Great little hot rod 22 groundhawg killer. My process is to size 6.5x55 Lapua brass with my 6 Vais die. Then 224 Vais die. My reamer is a tight neck so I then expand and neck turn. Last I fire form.

Pa Jeep

do you mean you change the neck size only to 6 then run through .224 Vais full length. What else could I use to neck size to 6 , then .224
before shooting with media. Do I need 6.5 x 55 dies to do it. What do I need to order?

thanks

Would love to speak with you about it.

You can just use a FL 224 Vais die to go from 6.5 to 22. I use my 6 Vais FL die because I have one. Remember to check your chamber neck diameter as the case wall will thicken and neck turning will likely be required before fire forming. Redding makes FL dies for both the 224 and 6 Vais.

I can find no evidence of Redding making a .22 Vais FL die now or earlier, Can you help me find one? thanx

So did PA Jeep fabricate his reference to Redding supplied Vais dies????? (gosh I sure hope not)

Hint:
A fantastic step in your quest for evidence should include a call to Redding asking for a 224 Vais FL Die....And your search for evidence is over.

607-753-3331 and they open Monday morning after the thanksgiving and deer opener break.

I think there are some in the stock room...Redding seems to have made lots of "customs' and keeps a few around.
