Anyone has experience with Lapua Rifle Match .22lr 40gr RN Ammo

This I understand is stuff made in Germany vs. Finland. Interested in finding out how accurate it is?

jlow,
Care to elaborate in terms of better describing that ammo you are asking about? By that I mean (to the best of my knowledge) Lapua doesn't currently make any "Match" ammo under the name of "Lapua Rifle Match." If you are talking about Lapua ammo that comes in a red box that has that name, that stuff pops up now and then and is rimfire ammo Lapua made a number of years ago (more than 5 yrs) and is ranked somewhere below Midas+ and CenterX which are much more reliable, accurate and consistent than was the red box "Lapua Rifle Match". I've seen the red box ammo show up every once in a while from various folks on the Internet. It's not that its bad ammo. Just isn't in the top tier of Lapua's Match ammo, rather closer to the lower bracket.

Funny you should ask.I was just able to score two bricks of Lapua Polar Biathlon,[1000] rds.I only need one.I'll sell the other for my cost,$175 plus shipping.I have been trying to post it but I can't figure out how.TomP.S.This is top tier ammo, check the Accurate Shooter tests.

It's commonly known as SK. Here is a photo of a box of 50.

Fotheringill - thanks but not looking to purchase any. Just looking for info.

Thx jlow. That IS NOT the ammo I was thinking about. I've tried the pictured ammo in years past and it doesn't shoot nearly as well as Midas+ or CenterX in my Anschutz.

Thanks Alex. I understand it is not the Finnish stuff and I don't expect it to be since it is significantly cheaper. Just wondering how well it shoots in terms of MOA?

jlow,
Like any other "quality" rimfire ammo, you really won't know until you try it. I've seen some guys with custom rigs get good results, some not so good. To me, with the ammo shortage bull, if you can score some, buy a small amount and test it. I bought most of my rimfire ammo a few years ago which is why I use Midas+ or CenterX to practice with (not so much anymore) and save my Federal Ultra Match UM22 for the real thing and competitions which I've backed away from more recently. I just got more into precision shooting with my centerfire rigs and lovin it!

How rifle A would shoot any particular rimfire ammo is likely little indication in how the same ammo would shoot in rifle B.

Thanks guys - I agree with the general comment of it depends on the rifle. Just trying to get a general idea. My guess is it is about the same as Wolf Match which I think may be the same stuff.

I'm pretty sure Lapua, S-K, and Wolf rimfire ammo is all coming out of the same factory. There is, of course, a world of difference between their high-end ammo and the mid-level fodder.

I believe S-K Rifle Match and Wolf Match Extra is comparable

Thanks! It's funny because I was actually originally looking for the Wolf Match, could not find it, but ending up with this and.... LOL!

SK Rifle Match and Wolf Match Extra are the same ammo sold in different boxes, one step down from Lapua Center-X. Very good accuracy for most purposes but not up to bench rest competition. They have a habit of throwing the occasional flier. Not bad for most purposes, but will not do for BR. I've shot a lot of SK and Wolf, both of which are made by Lapua.

jlow-

T'aint selling anything. You confused me with someone else.
I have one CZ that loves the Wolf Match Extra and one that doesn't. I also don't like the smell nor the feel of the round. It is greasy and sticks on my fingers.

I am sure it is ok for minute of squirrel.

I shot SK rifle match and it shoots ok, but I would never put it as 1-step down form Center X, IMO more like the next tier down and not even in the same class. I found and shot CX that rivaled Midas+, but never found SK rifle match that shot that good.
I went down to Lapua in February and found some CX that shot 11mm@ 50m and 20mm@100 best Midas + was 12.15mm @50M rifles were a Falcon and Anschutz 1411

I've seen lots of mediocre lots of both SK Rifle Match & Lapua Center-X. Tested around a dozen lots of each before finding one worth buying in quantity. Biggest difference I've seen between the two is price - bought two cases of Rifle Match last year for $638ea delivered, while the best price I've found for Center-X has been $1000/case. More recently, I found one lot of SK's new Long Range Match that had ES/SD numbers better than either Rifle Match or Center-X, and it shot better at 200+yds than either of the others - priced at $775/case. This is out of a couple of Kriegers chambered with a PTG EPS reamer, and a Bartlein chambered with Mike Bush's Ravage reamer, in 40XB & V-22 actions.

I bought a case of SK Match that has outshot any other ammo I've ever bought.

I just bought it for practice, now hoard it.

As someone once told me about finding lots of Eley black box that shot as well or better than red box, red box makes a lot of money per unit sold but black box makes a lot by volume sold. Guessing that some of the black box would be red box quality but they had more orders for black box.

Had the same thing with one particular lot of SK Standard, outshot many lots of CenterX. Wish I could have gotten a truckload if it.
I agree with your analogy of red/black box Eley.
