Anyone ever tried H4350 in a 308 with heavy bullets?

I'm thinking about playing with some 200 class bullets in my 308 for F class next yr. I've been using Varget with great results in the 175-185 class bullets. I'm wondering if the slower 4350 would work better for 200s.

I use H4350 with 230 Hybrids in .308. The chamber has .280" freebore for an OAL of 3.185". 2470 from a 30" barrel in Lapua Palma brass with Wolf SRM primers.

My reamer is closer to .183 freebore I think. That's probably going to make the 230s a little too short. I was thinking of giving the 208 Amax a run and see if it worked any better than the 185.

The 215 Hybrid is .076" shorter and the 200 Hybrid is .140" shorter. Either could work in your chamber but the 200 is a safe bet. My H4350 load is ~108% and crunches a little on seating. I just wonder whether you can get enough in the case to achieve full pressure. Maybe IMR 4007 SSC is closer to ideal burn rate.

If you need more room give H414 a try. Some have good results with Reloader 17 and it is less bulkier also. I was able to get 2450 fps with my long throat-ed 20" 10tw 788 with the 208 gr. A-Max and 4350. Laurie and German have done much with the heavies and perhaps one will chime in.

I use H4350 in my 308 with 200 Hybrids and 210 VLD's. They have to be seated way out but the combination is extremely accurate. It will give the 6mmBR a good run for your money. I get just under 2600 fps out of my 29.5" barrel with the combo and a very broad accuracy band.

I found that the 210 VLD is more accurate in my rifle.
