Anyone else getting shorted with lapua brass?

Ok, here's where I get blasted by a couple of you. You're anal to an extreme. 1 freaking pc of brass and you go insane. What, 80 cents or less and the world comes unglued? Now tell me all about the 'principle' of it all. And lot numbers????? See sentence number 2 above.
Blasted? No. You're the grounded one here. If Lapua were sensible, they'd just put 99 cases in the boxes marked "100", knowing only the few "unglued" folk will care, thereby increasing their profit 1% with no risk or effort.

Hi guys, I'm the communications director for Nammo, and you guys talking about us came up in a search. Just wanted to mention that Lapua has been part of Nammo since we were founded in 1998 (when all the Nordic ammunition businesses were joined) so nothing new there. So far all our commercial work in the US has gone through third party distributors (which is why you have been asked to contact them) but we are setting up our own distribution center now, so that is about to change. Appreciate you letting our people know when something is off - good feedback for our QC!

Regards,

Endre Lunde

Thanks for the post. A big thank you to Kevin as well. He promptly took care of my minor issue. I don't consider missing a single piece of brass a huge problem but he insisted that he would make it right for me. I have bought several different cartridge cases and only had one with an error in count. Thanks for making a great product and caring about what you do.

I'm not sure why you are worried about a case or two, if you weight sort it +/- 0.75 grains you will lose a lot more than that....

I'm quite surprised by the weight spread of all the Lapua brass I have used from 220 Russian to 338 LM

Mind you I'm not sure if it makes a difference or not....

Kiwi, from what I have read and seen there is no direct correlation between case weight and case volume. Of the Lapua cases that I have tested, volume has been pretty consistent. Consistent enough that if you are loading in a node you can't see any difference.

Thanks I need to do some testing.
Its just a little disconcerting when you weigh a box of cases & their weight difference is over 1.5 grains for a case that is only around 110 grains & you can get the same or less difference with another brand brass that is over three times the total weight.

I also got a couple of 100 ct boxes of Lapua, one was 1 short, the other was ok. As a general rule, heavier cases have smaller volumes (if there is a large difference in weight) but nothing that's consistent on a smaller scale. These are all Hornady Match .308 cases (different lots, same part number) and were weighed dry with a spent primer (appx. 5 grains) and the water volume to fill the cases in cc's. I think that if you cannot or don't want to take the time to measure case volumes, weighing is worth while. Here, the lightest (by 20%) is only 7.4% larger than heaviest. Still enough to make a major difference in pressure.

158.1 grains 3.719 cc
169.4 grains 3.601 cc
169.5 grains 3.614 cc
172.3 grains 3.596 cc
174.4 grains 3.511 cc
174.5 grains 3.492 cc
181.4 grains 3.525 cc
189.6 grains 3.469 cc
190.1 grains 3.464 cc

I was working up a 200 grain load and my 1/4 MOA ended up looking like a shotgun pattern. I retired the old brass I was using and used new from another lot without checking. They averaged about 20 grains lighter and the average velocity dropped from about 2,535 to 2,475 fps. Lesson learned, measure first! Now I'm starting over.

I also wanted to see what F/L resizing does to the internal volume (Forster F/L die). This is a small sampling and weighed in grams, not grains and with spent primers. (somehow I lost Lapua case #3). Looks like the Lapua may be a little thicker walled losing up to 3% volume. The Hornady cases were a little less.

I like there to be at least 100 in there as I do one full box for each 6ppc rifle and need to know there are 100 in the box not say 96

Maybe it's just bad luck but two of the last 3 new boxes of lapua brass I have opened have only had 99 brass. I know it's only one brass but my OCD hates a box of bullets with one left and one extra primer. When I am spending 60-85 cents a piece it's really annoying. One box was 223 lot #P00817201 and the ther was 308 #P00648701.

At least it wasn't my 338 brass at almost 3 bucks a piece.

OMG the end of the world is near. Did anyone complain when they received 102?
