anyone done a 6.5 x 57 ackley?

Any body neck up a 6 rem or neck down a 7x57 and ackley it must be comparable to 6.5 284 with less powder not? Long neck and adiquite case capacity.

I have. I had a bunch of 6mm Rem. cases. I thought I had come up with a new wildcat. Until I found out about the 6.5x57. I put a 40 degree shoulder, minimum body tape and I think 308 neck. I did make a mistake with the reamer and put a short throat. Have not shot it since 2003 and did not shoot it much then. But hope to start shooting it this year. I had a 6.5x284 and was going to make a 6.5x284 short. But when I look at powder capacity it was the same. Hope some of this helps.

I haven't done a 6.5 x 57 AI from scratch but bought a rifle in that chambering,it has since been re-barreled to 6 x 6.5 x 47 Lapua). Basically a 6mm ackley up to 6.5 with a .294 neck. Used 7 x 57 RWS brass taken down to 6.5. Slightly less powder capacity than my 6.5 x 284 with the benefit of a longer neck. Lots of potential with 4350 but I wasted a lot of time using H4831 SC. I will revisit this thing when time permits as I think it has a lot of potential. Rifle was a 7 1/2" Bat; 8 1/2 twist Kost. barrel done by Sid Goodling; used a redding 6 ackley FL bushing die with 6.5 bushings for a sizer and Sid had reamed a custom seater that came with the rifle when I bought it.
