I picked up a duramaxx and installed my action. Found out that it sat about a quarter inch high in the channel. What a struggle to sand the beds that the reciever sits on.Is there a better way to remove all the extra stock off these high areas?
I am very discouraged with the bell&carlson line, wish I bought an hs precision or dug deep for the macmillan.Who else make's reasonably priced stocks for the savage's.

I have two of them. For the money I guess I wasn't too upset with the quality. I had the same issues as you on one of them and on the other, the forend sat about 1/4" to the port side.

If I had to do it again, I'd get a Stockade.

That Russo guy in Pa ( jkrussos@comcast.net)will make you a nice stock and it will fit your action without any sanding... If you need to remove a lot of material a mill is your best bet, or a real good hand with a Dremel tool...
