New stock for a Savage 10FP

I just bought a new 10FP. It came with the cheesy plastic stock of course so I want to put a new one on.

I'd also like to change it to a DBM at some point.

I haven't taken anything apart yet to look at because there is a bunch of caked on something on the bolt and ejector so I don't know if have to send the whole rifle or just the bolt back yet.

The question I have is do I have to order a new blind magazine or other parts to change the stock? I was looking at a Bell and Carlson to start with.

If I get around to going to a DBM I know need to order bottom metal. Does any one have any suggestions and experience with different bottom metals and DBM?

Last but not least is there a good Savage take apart and put back together book out there?

First I would soak the bolt in something like Hoppe's to get the "gunk" off. While this is going on, go to http://savageshooters.com/SavageForum/ and do some research on Savages.

Next I would go to http://www.sharpshootersupply.com/ and do a little shopping as they have a DBM kit for Savages.

Here is my favorite Savage stock: http://www.stockysstocks.com/servlet/the-110/Bell-Carlson-tactical-700/Detail

Here is another, but I do not have one: http://www.competitionshootingstuff.com/id13.html

Good shooting,

George

I emailed the pictures of the "gunk" to Savage. I was going to try and clean it up my self but I wanted to see what they say first and get it on record with them. The extractor, from the roll pin through to the end of the extractor, is covered or encased in "something"

It looks like Sharp shooter supply's web site is down at the moment.

Thanks for the stock links. http://www.competitionshootingstuff.com/id13.html Thats some cool stuff. Not what I'm looking for at the moment but some thing to consider for the future.
