Anyone Adjust the Remington Replacement trigger on a 700?

Sent my rem 700 ADL in 7 rem mag for trigger replacement. It came back with a horrible 'Bela Lugosi' type trigger pull. Does This new trigger adjusts the same way as the old ones did? Any suggestions would be welcomed.
I adjusted a couple of the older triggers back in the day. Just seeing if adjusting the new ones are the same. Thank you in advance.

My only suggestion is throw that trigger in garbage can hang a timney.

oh man, shouldnt have done that. you have the X-Mark trigger now. no getting it much better. most guys who want to get rid of the x-mark can't hardly give them away

The Std pre 2006 & X Mark/Pro trigger groups adjust the same way, but w/ different tools.
Do not crowd the over travel allen head screw(fwd/Top)as it needs clearance to move upon safety actuation.

Best option-

Remove said trigger group, stop & torsion spring w/ 1/8" punch.
Save bolt stop & torsion spring.
Place trigger group on anvil.
Hit trigger group w/ accelerated 4Lb hammer.
Throw in trash to get junk out of circulation.

Install a Jewell HVRTSBR-A

You're wrong Dan.....you need to use an 8 pound hammer. You don't waste time hitting it more than once.

The only upside to this is that we are all a little safer now ::)

LOL. Unless of course your hunting partner is pointing the rifle at you while loading or unloading like the cases that sparked this mess. How does Remington intend to fix stupid? ;D

Love the humor! being there frugal person that I am, I was just making sure before I give up on something before I discard it. The last time I met such anger towards a mechanism was when I asked someone about the magazine that came w/my kimber gold combat about 1o years ago. Everyone I talked to said that was the biggest piece of poo they had ever seen. I then purchased a Miculek magazine and wow! Yes. The kimber mag was indeed a pile of crap!
Guess now the only question is which trigger to but. I have used the timney's on my's brother's 700 and it seems pretty good. Not a jewel, but it should do the job.

I did actually adjust the replacement trigger down to a little over 3lbs. Before I adjusted it it was in the high 5's.
I just don't want to spend the $$ as of yet. Going to range in am to test some loads and see how it shoots.

Just keep an eye out on here for a sale on an older style Remington trigger or a good deal on an aftermarket 700 trigger. Then you can get back to having a better trigger like you did before sending it to Remington for the recall.

I still have an old Remington 40X trigger (externally adjustable) in brand new condition that I picked up from a fella here a while back. I got a smokin' deal on it for about $45 shipped if I remember correctly. Every once in a while, deals like that will pop up, but you have to be quick on the mouse trigger cuz they will be gone in the blink of an eye ;)

Most older style Rem 700 triggers can be brought down below 1 lb. safely in the hands of a skilled gunsmith with quality honing stones. I keep extra older style Rem 700 triggers like that around because Remington will never go back to producing those triggers and they are far better than the current X-Mark. If you ever plan on buying more Remington 700's or custom actions fitted for Rem 700 triggers and don't want to spend a lot of money on something like a Jewell (even though they are worth every penny), it's nice to have some on standby.

If you are so inclined, I'm sure ErnieTheGunsmith has a spring for that as well. Out one on a Rem 700 SA that came with the X trigger, It is better; breaks at just about 2.5. Just not every time. Seems to bounce between 2.5 and 3.25.

I replace the spring with one out of a Bic lighter these work well and you can get a good pull weight

Actually really good info. Sometimes hard to find small trigger-compatible springs around town in hardware stores. Usually have to order them online and wait on shipping. I don't smoke, but I have a bunch of lighters for emergencies. Way to think outside the box :)

Yes I looked a long time before finding a lighter that had been broken and saw the spring, cut a little longer as they are much lighter and each end is coned that fits snugly on the unthreaded part of the trigger screw

The spring on a valve core works well too..most tire shops chunk em in the trash. Check your local tire store, bet they will give you all you want of the used ones
