Anybody ever ran a mag-fed 6PPC?

I'm thinking about building the wife a hunting rifle in 6PPC, but would like to have it be mag-fed. Anyone done it successfully. Ideal setup would be one of the flush(ish) fitting HS Precision setups.

And yes I know a XC, 243, BR, etc. would be more practical. Not interested in practical. :D

Thanks,

Dan

It works fine, Ruger made magazine fed 6ppc's and 22ppc's about 20 years ago. I know where there are several and they work without issue. WD

The Sako is a detachable mag setup correct? Is the Ruger as well, or just internal mag?
Ruger is an internal magazine that feeds flawlessly. I Never really examined the Sako. But if it feeds from a detachable magazine then you have your answer. :)WD

Have a 6PPC repeater made by Cascade Arms(Butch Weyand) in Oregon. Not sure if Butch is still smithing any rifles. One could get near 6PPC performance(and practical) from a 6TCU, a 6mm-223AI, or a 6mm-204 Ruger.

We shoot a 6ppc size round in our ARs (6fat rat). They feed very reliably. I heard of someone (Maybe PTG) making bottom metal that takes an ar mag. Sound like a fun project...weve been wanting to do a bolt version of our 6 fat rats too.....just because....Id like to hear how it comes out for you. Good luck.

A C-Z 527 7.62 X 39 can (allegedly) be modified to feed 6PPC; won't have the flush magazine box you desire, though. Bud's sometimes gets actions, but sold out now.
There are also some Sako Model A1 repeaters w/dbm in 6PPC out there, but they're as rare as Mexicans at a Trump rally. About as much chance of finding one as there is a chance of another $1500 unfired Sako 75 with dies and brass, like the one I recently had to let slip by, showing up for sale.

Yes PTG sells Bottom metal that takes an AR15 magazine. There are Magazines set up for the PPC case. (Grendel)..... seems like a cheap and easy way to try it.

I think my first choice would be the Sako 75 (if I can find one). If not, I'll go Remington action with either the HS bottom metal or the PTG AR setup.

I shoot a Sako 75 repeater in 6ppc. It's amazing how smooth and reliable 5 rounds will cycle. Shoots pretty darn good too. I use mine as a coyote rifle shooting 70 grain Noslers from Lapua brass.
