ANY PRAIRIE DOG TRIPS CANCELLED??

I have a PD shoot lined up for late June. I'm really looking forward to taking a new shooter to see the RED MIST.. Health and Safety come FIRST.. Any shooters or outfitters out there plan to skip their PD shoot/trip for 2020??

Even though the risk, maybe, is relatively low-ish, is it worth the risk to you or your family??? For me it's not.

we cancelled and rescheduled for next year. it is not just the few that you will shoot with it is the getting there.

also a lot of spring shooters will try to reschedule in the summer and it might get crowded.

We never set a hard date until early spring.....We'll probably miss the first litter of pups this year but we'll try to be there for the second go around......If that doesn't work then it wouldn't break my heart to wait until late summer or early fall to go....It gets hot out there on the great plains!.....

Still have not decided,we go the middle of July,we don’t have to make reservations or anything so we are playing it by ear

I can get to my destinations in two to three tank fulls of gas. I will dry camp in a tent if I have too, our crowd has discussed this in the past.

I would limit my visit to civilization to a bare minimum.

Time will tell but I have not given up, safety and health are number one. If it’s real late may have to bring a weed eater to cut a shooting lane lol.

I have heard folks say there is nothing there. That’s because they don’t know how to look. I love the Plains, especially off the beaten path, hunt or not.

AND if I don’t go there is gonna be several egg shoots, if I can find any eggs!

Is a hunting trip right now ,during a stay at home request , worth risking infecting someone or yourself ? Even stopping for fuel or grocery’s is a risk...

Haven't given much thought yet. Still need to consider where and when. I normally go with my FIL who is 78 so either things will need to get better or he probably won't be going. Hopefully, the beer bug is under control by early May.

Ours is on. No motels or restaurants needed.
Probably the same here. Our usual mode is camping, but made an exception last year. Have been trying to decide which way to go this year and it looks like the decision has been made for me. No worries. Can't think of a safer place than 5,000 acres of SD prairie.

My crew and I just cancelled our week long ground squirrel trip here. The residents of the sparsely populated areas we hunt DO NOT want outsiders coming to their areas for fear of infection. Can't blame them, and right now the thing to consider is PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. We all take travel trailers, so don't depend on motels, but it's just not worth the risk of infection....us or them.

Only the second time in over 50 years of rat shooting we've had to cancel. Bummer, but hey, we're all in this one together.......

Stay home, stay safe.

No prairie doggin’ for me this year but I’ve got a trophy deer hunt planned for November. I hope this crap is over with by then or I’m going to have a conniption!!
