Any people fish for Pike or Muskies

Northern 3-5 pounder out of cool water are good eating, Up in the north, you know how to fillet boneless. Muskie usually have a long length minimum, that equals an old fish, that aren't used for food. The boneless method leaves you with 5 pieces that batter fry well. Pickled pike is good, usually the smaller fish are used. I prefer walleye, black crappie.

Northern pike are nice table-fare, Walleye’s probably #2. Nothing beats yellow perch through the ice.
Very few kill Muskies, there are not a ton of them around.
Here’s one my son in law got on lake Ontario last year.

Muskie are rarely eaten anymore given there lower numbers. the fish of 10,000 casts
Pike. No... nick named snake or hammerheads grew up with the understanding they were trash fish. Some do eat them but the Y bone takes a few more minutes to process. We always had other options so they where thrown back.
Walleye 1st
Perch 2nd
Lake trout 3rd

Cheers

Living on the shores of Lake Erie, I was just about raised on perch
and walleye. Small mouth bass out in the cold water is real close to
walleye but the key here is caught "COLD". I like Pike deep fried.
And yes a pain in the ass to prepare. Split the flesh along the y bone
and pull em' out with needle nose pliers.....Now if I had my druther's.
it would be a plate load of crappie. Won't be much longer before they
are up on the banks.....And a little tip....If crappie fishing and they quit
hitting all of a sudden, put on a #5 yellow rooster tail, and you'll have
your northern.

Pike are delicious. Many moons ago a guide on Leech Lake in Minnesota showed me how to remove the
dreaded Y bones on some Pike when he guided us. I never kept Pike unless they were about 30" or so, so the Y bones were easier to pluck out. After he demonstrated how to cut out the bones, I always kept "eatin"
sized Pikers. Personally, when deep fried in beer batter, I like them better than Walleyes.

I fished for Musky many times in Wisconsin and Minn. Never caught a trophy, but quite a few youngsters. Best place ever for Musks was Cliff Lake up in Ontario. It had goobers of mid sized muskies years ago that loved my big Mepps spinners. That lake had incredible numbers of Smallmouth Bass too. No Wally's in that lake back then as I recall. Had dozens of "arms" to fish in, and we got lost one day when a storm came and we lost sight of our friends who guided us. We spent many hours weaving in and out of bays, finally got
back to the resort in near darkness. A search party was just ready to head out. Of course we lied and said we were just fishin' all day. Sure they said! Scary to be lost, especially when low on gas!

So a bit different .

Take a pike filled it and dont bother with y bones. Put it through a hand grinder and make "crab cakes" with it , I guess pike cakes? You have to watch your hand putting them on the table, kids can be vicious going after them.
