I am wanting to hook up my annealer to a 20lb cylinder to my annealer. What regulator do I need to make it work with the torch heads? Hi pressure or low pressure?

thx for the help..in advance

No regulator needed, just the correct hose. http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-High-Pressure-Propane-Hose-Adapter/dp/B0009PUQAK/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pdT1_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2OSZAD52S0B19&coliid=I1049HL3RPT921

or you can just refill your small bottles off of a 20 pound tank. They say not to but I've never had an issue. It is illegal to transport a refilled 1lb cylinder though. The refill adapter is: http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Heater-F276172-Propane-Adapter/dp/B000AMC5WO/ref=pd_bxgy_sg_text_z

I'm not argueing your point however, just saw on the news within the last few days of an explosion and fire by someone refilling a 1 lb. cylinder that is not supposed to be refilled. I would not do it, not worth the potential risk involved.

Thanks fellas, just wanted to be safe. When you don't know, ask someone will give the right one...

I'd be interested in the details of that tank exploding as I here alot of rumors about it but most end up being just that, rumors with no real facts. Or someone doing something completely retarded. Its kind of like reloading, sure it can be dangerous if you don't watch what you do but there is always that one guy.

Sorry, I was watching with only a passing interest and my old mush brain can't even remember where the incident took place. I'm sure something was being done in an unsafe manner. To me it is not worth a serious or fatal accident over a pound of propane. I consider myself frugal most of the time, but I'll leave the tank filling to others. I do know of an instance many years ago where a neighbor was seriously burned filling an LP tractor. Also know of house explosions from gas leaks in conjunction with gas home heating systems. No problem when properly installed by well trained technicians that are using time tested materials and installation techniques. Same can most likely be said about the 1 lb. throwaways. I choose not to do it and surely there is some danger of reccommending it to others?

I'm using a 10# bottle about a half gallon does a 1000 rounds on my Bench Source.

I use a coleman T adapter on my bottle with to Coleman propane lines no regulator is required per my manufacturer.
I picked a 10# bottle because the 20# is a pain in the rear to move around.

That's why i stated it is not recommended and I agree completely that its not something to take lightly.

Has anyone used this adapter on a torch head? I tried one from Ace hardware and it would not engage fully and open the cylinder to the torch.

jp,

Click on the link below. A great thread that gives you the info needed to feed your annealer from a 20 lb. tank. I went to school on this thread and plumbed my Benchsource annealer with components from Flame Engineering http://www.flameengineering.com/.

To answer your question directly and repeat what guidom stated previously, the torch heads http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-100079143/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=torch+head&storeId=10051#.USAuLPIkRQIare regulators as well. You run a high pressure connection from the tank to the torches and you're in business. SAFELY I will add.

Best wishes,

WalMart has the Coleman hose to hook a 20# bottle direct to the torch. No regulator needed. Works great.
