Any negatives from taping the end of your barrel?

Last week I missed a groundhog gimme at 75 yards, an easy wide open shot. I'm almost certain I lifted my head when I squeezed the trigger. Stuff happens.

That is what must of happened.
I find it astonishing that I do that because I have an unobstructed view through my scope on hit or miss.

We used them on scoped MLs. Not sure how they'd work on barrels with open sights.

Have used black electrical tape for 50 yrs on hunting rifles in snow, rain, etc. Never a problem. I do pass a patch through at night to clear any condensation.
