E-1 Airman Recruit in 1965, electronics tech on KC-135s and 52Ds. Got out after 4. 16 year break in service. Went back in Army for my 20 - too old for OCS. Retired as SSG Aviation Depot production control - non-commissioned OFFICER.

Did 8 active and now working on year number 3 in the reserves. Going to retire as an 05 hopefully. My 04 boards just met in March, waiting on the results.

Make sure you do your PME and watch what billet you are in and you will go right on up.

I haven't served, but I sure appreciate all of you that did. I have no idea what all of these letters and numbers mean behind your names. The only letters that I remember what they mean were PLO. Sergeant Carter invented them for PFC Pyle PLO. Permanent Latrine Orderly.

@Jet made it to CMSgt (E9) in the USAF. That is truly exceptional. I met a few of those guys and there isn't one that would not have made it to O-6 had they been in the commissioned ranks.

God Bless our Military members current and retired/ They are the gems of society to me and my family. I have several lifers in the Navy and Army . My uncle Louie was Lt Munson army air corp shot down over the sea of Japan in 1944. I have all his stuff including a uniform and a list of all his squadron names and ranks. I never met him but he and I have so much in common. He was 24 years old.

Class of 2000. Google the “Texas cadet murders.” That was my class. VSP= voluntary separation program. Basically they were RIFFING

MSgt USAF retired (1995). For all you pilots, I was the "comm guy" keeping the ILS, TACAN, VOR/TVOR, and marker beacons running 24/7/365.

The guys that rose from enlisted to O-6, now that is impressive

2 of the 3 comm squadron commanders during my 4yrs at Tonopah retired as generals, one a two star, the other, prior enlisted, as brigadier.
