Any guys using Lapua Senars to hunt with?

all I hear about is Hornady and berger. I was shooting some 139 Senars in a '47 Lapua, groups very tiny with Aa4350.

Keith, I hunted with the 139 scenars for deer with my 260 some years back when I first built it. I pushed them at around 2850. The bullets perform alot like a Sierra matchkings. They Fragment into several pieces and do alot of internal damage. Being someone who enjoys putting a deer down where they stand, I enjoyed using them. Plus, they are deadly accurate as are all match bullets. Hope that helps.

I shot 123 Scenars's in a .260 for the past several years. They did a good job, very few tracking jobs mostly 0-40 yards. If you hit a bone it is really devastating. I was pushing them pretty quick though. I am currently shooting 185 Scenar's in my .308.

I guide professionally here in South Texas, exotics, pigs, and whitetails. Shoot alot of deer of various sizes every year. My two favorite bullets in 308 are 155 scenar and 180 jlk lbt. They both will drive deep and leave an exit. Much less bloodshot and lost meat than many bullets, including premium hunting bullets. Have gone through amax's, Berger's(target and hunting), noslers, and Sierra's. Suck at posting pics, but exits with scenars and the jlk's tend to leave a perfect two inch exit and pull out whatever was in the way, right out the exit.

Not saying poor results with other bullets (except 168 target hybrid, really wanted that one to work), just most consistent and solid hunting bullets I have used.

I cut some cross sections from 123s, and I could think of no reason not to hunt with them based on what I saw.

I will say that despite a ridiculous amount of load development I never could get them to shoot like I wanted... I even tried starting them 15 in and backing them up all the way to 50 off in .005 increments.

I have a proof barrel coming and plan to try them once again.

I shoot a lot of Scenars from 6 - 30 cal. I have found that they shoot best touching to .011 off the lands. As they say on forged in fire "They Willle Kille"

I killed a buck a few years ago with a Hornady 168 Match bullet in a .308.

Killed him just as dead as all the ones I’ve shot with “designed” hunting bullets
