Any good places to hunt woodchucks in pa ?

There is a barn door on my farm that has 267 nail nailed on it. My wifes father nailed every one of them there. Each one had a chuck tail on it before i was born probably. That was one summer he said. And they were shot on this farm. Today if he shot 5 that wld b something. But he said the bucks are bigger now so….

Just read this thread this am. Haven't hit this forum in a while. I will toss my hat in the ring now as far as G-hog
hunting in PA. I'm a lifelong PA resident that grew up on a small farm among other farms & woods in Cambria
County. I now live in Centre ( State College circa,1996) Co. I grew up with .22 rifle in my hand or close by! Soy-
beans were only something I read about in farm magazines & Game News subscription. I've lived in North Central and Southeast PA before planting here. I've hunted wherever I could get permission on private property
and on State Game Lands for G-hogs. I DO believe Coyotes have a definite impact on chuck populations! I am now retired from traveling construction, but hunted when I got home on my rotations while working on some local land. My Son hunted also till he married & moved to New England ( I still have all his guns,
almost impossible to have them where he resides! ). We used .22 rim-fires, Hornets & .223 most of the time.
Now I use mostly .22 PCP pellet guns as I have church's , schools, horses & developments all around the three farms I have permission to hunt and I'm now the only that chases hogs on them. I use .22 LR & Magnum's occasionally and have taken over 100 hogs every year since 2012 when I started keeping a tally and this past year I took 144 combined w/ traps & guns. I do what the farmer wants & get them as soon as I see them . Yes, that may stir some up,but this saves the farmer big $$$ on crops and machinery . After clearing a hole I close it and monitor it for new activity. I use traps & pellet guns for places that other guns are not feasible. Hogs undermine buildings & floors causing so much damage and the farmer is grateful I get as many as I can. I report every kill as I get them. I was away for a season with work and he said he was darn near over-
run with them! I have cell phone pictures of soybean fields with acre(+) plots stripped almost bare ,along with
alfalfa fields with mounds that required skid loaders to knock the mounds down & regrade for hay cutting. I have both hips & shoulders replaced ,so I don't shovel as well now . There are still places to shoot/hunt G-hogs ,but
very little hunting in PA is what it was because of many factors. I am thankful for what I have & give a gift certificate every Christmas to show my appreciation !!
