any factory 6mm or bigger rounds using .378 boltface?

Maybe some of our Indiana members can explain the logic behind the state's rifle caliber regs. I can't.

i saw that page and evidently it is old as the OP says they have opened it up to any caliber. That was the law last year though. Only 6mm or 30 calibers. I could not figure it out either. It is a sunset law. They are trying rifle calibers. If you stop by to visit the VP one of these days you could ask him:p

The OP wont answer what kind of rifle he is talking about. Might very well be an AR pattern. might be able to get the barrel for that cheaper than an axis. im sure glad they arent making the 223 legal for deer. All the AR boys would be out there playing and spraying. Not a place where id want to be.:(
If you could tell me why the kind of rifle is relevant to the question at all, I'll tell you what it is
I will say I dislike AR's entirely and completely.
The private land provision has seemingly negated your claim of mass destruction due to them though.
There is no semi auto made that can match the Rpm's of an opening morning slug gun.
Those stupid bastards worry me. I'll swear the guy one woods over from me has a darn drum on his. Dig up the army study on ricochets. 12 and ML ricochet almost twice what a 06 will The don't loose as much energy on initial contact.

I re-read my origianl response realizing that the OP asked for a factory round, not a wildcat. While I stand by my thinking (6-45) I guess when limited to factory stuff the option ends up being 300BK.

And I agree with other suggestion: Hunting deer, 100 yards, want a 6mm. Buy a cheap 243. And though an Axis is CHEAP, I never saw one that would not shoot minute of deer at 100, and it is cheaper than a rebarel. Besides that, it allows you to fill another empty spot in the safe! Whats not to like??

ive been out there times when only shotguns were allowed and it sounded like a war zone. scared to move so i know the feeling. That was private ground to. i think the high power rifles for deer are long overdue and im all for it. Never thought i would see it in my lifetime. everybody has used them for years for lots of other critters anyway. i shot wood chucks in IN with my 7RM 40 years ago. So why not for deer to. I make no claims of mass destruction but those same bastards you mention will be out there with the ARs with high cap magazines and there will be private landowners that let them on just like they let them on now. Plus you know the law will be extended to public ground if there arent many problems. ARs arent the apple in my eye but i own some and i dont dislike them. I just dont want to be out in the woods with a bunch of guys playing assassins creed with ARs and you know those guys are out there in quantity these days. Finally the type of rifle is relevent because you possibly would only need to buy a barrel for an AR and install it yourself and that could be done cheaper than an aftermarket barrel on a bolt action even if youre using a Nut(savage, remage ect) You probably know as the guys here aluded to a good after market barrel installed by a gunsmith could easily cost 500 to 700 and up.

he asked for a factory round but he seems to say custom loaded would work in his case so that opens up many possibilities. Any of the cheap rifles are minute of deer at 100. ruger american-rem 783- sav axis mossberg- ect ect. I agree another one in the safe is always a good thing. And New Yorkers dont have any room to bash Indiana gun laws. :D. Indiana is a very firearms friendly state.

Myself wouldn't use one if you gave it to me... same for most all the shabby, cheap, want-to-be rifles.

To go Deer hunting one must be properly dressed; the notion of including an Axis as part of your attire runs contrary to any notion of good taste!

The 300 black out works great for short range deer. There is plenty of factory ammo available .In fact it is what I put together for my wife on a SBR upper.I also gave her a full mag but it only took her 1 round dropping a 6point.

I believe our new law only allows for 5 rounds in the gun 10 total on your person. Also only from elevated position i.e tree stands Hard to enforce either though. We have a local guy that chambers barrrls for $100. So a new barrrl on a rifle is closer to $300 or less. If your not to opposed to eBay for barrrls. Screw it onto your favorite bolt rifle and your miles ahead of cheap black plastic that Walmart tells you you like

You never hunted in Pennsylvania. :D:p
Eastern PA requires a pair of orange suspenders, orange vest, orange straw hat (felt in winter if one's beard is short) black rubber boots and any chopped Lee Enfield (using an adz to shape the stock helps) will do.

Any reason to buy a new gun is a good thing, so just buy a gun. Doesn't have to be new, and I'd not knock the Walmart shopper edition 700 ADL's in your case. Not from Walmart , but I've had a few syn 700 ADL's , and they shot great . I prefer the older ones with the checkered stock and better trigger, but I still have a newer style .308 here I've been playing with that's quite impressive on the bench. Thing makes me smile every time I take it out.

I wouldn't want a custom gun made to shoot factory ammo. If said ammo is available. The 6x45 is probably the most common 6mm on the 223 case head. My .02

And a ride to somewhere that hasn't been totally wiped out of all wild animals.:(
