Any experience with Rock 6.5 barrels?

I am in the process of getting my 6.5x47 Lapua built and my smith is pushing on the Rock Creek barrel since I prefer a cut-rifled tube, my preference is a Krieger or Bartlein but know Mike makes great 7.62 barrels and was curious why I don't see them mentioned here much. I feel like I should push back and get what I want regardless of the wait,I was told I would wait at least 6 months for what I want), but was open to opinion. Gentlemen?

Thanks

I have two. Both are chambered in 6.5x47L. One shot a sub 3" group at 800yds in Sacramento and they both shoot consistently sub .5 MOA groups.

Rock Creek Barrels

Mike Rock was a understudy of Boots Obermyer one of the top names in cut rifled barrels. Mike will tell you he has had his ups and downs in his personal life. He has a crew that has been working for him for a few years now. I have personally installed a number of Rock Creek barrels without finding any problems. I have personally shot two of his barrels and found them to be top line in the accuracy department. Mike and Paul have also given me excellent service. Their delivery times have been right on the date I was told. Currently I would highly recomend them for any caliber cut rifle barrel.

I have one on a 6.5-284 LR prone gun. I shot my highest score at 1000 first time out with it and moved up a classification after two matches. I would get another when the time comes.

I'll give a hearty second to everything Rustystud said.
Also, don't forget James over there, too.
I currently have Rock's on my 30X47 Hunter gun, my 30BR VFS gun, my 6 Dasher 1000yd light gun, 7 or 8 prairie dog guns, and two on order for my new 1000 yd heavy gun.
Just get one, and put your worries elsewhere.

Al.

Rock barrels are showing up on the line everywhere. I don't have any but wouldn't hesitate to use one. That being said, you should go with the barrel that you feel comfortable with. Depending on the contour/caliber/twist that you are looking for, there are a few suppliers that may have exactly what you are looking for in stock. Bruno's and Sinclair come to mind.

Im into my 5th Rock Barrel now. Three 7.62mm barrels and a 6mm Barrel and a 6.5mm. They all have shot as good as any other good Manufacture out there, and there a quit a few nowadays)

My last order got lost or never entered and after I stopped by on the way to Camp Perry there was no paper work on them. So I waited from end of July06 till January07 to get them. These things happen from time to time. ,but they always seem to happen to me)

With that being said Ill have to say that I have been happy with the product it self. I have shot several 200 cleans at 1000 yards with this gun in prone matches with 10+ X's.
Camp Perry this year was a banner year for me. 8th overall and beating several Top names.,Tubb Tompkins, Gallager,).

Sounds like the above have been having good luck also. I would give it a try if I was making the decision.

Thank you for the feedback gentlemen, I would not have hesitated for my .308. Guess I just have not been around the 6/6.5 guns enough to have come across it much, I'll stick with the Rock.
