Any experience with 28 Nosler?

I'm interested in adding a 7mm cartridge to my stable. There are plenty of amazing wildcats to choose from, but I'm also interested in factory chamberings which perform well for both long range accuracy and elk dropping potential. Now that the 28 Nosler has been out for a bit, has anyone tried it? Has anyone handloaded for it?

I have been hand loading and shooting the 28 Nosler for a few months. So far I have settled on 180 berger VLD over 83gn of H1000 with Fed 215 mag primer. Velocity out of a 28" tube is 3260 fps. I have taken it over 3300 fps but there are pressure signs and I am sure the cases will not last. I have only shot it at 1k one time and the group with that load was 6" with 3.5" of vertical. But I am sure I can do better than that. Recoil is actually not too bad, as long as you have a brake on it. Hope this helps with your decision.

You might want to look at the 7mm Practical. It's a simple wildcat that was done years ago. It's a 7/300 Win. Mag. that a guy named Nathan Foster from N.Z. brought back. He has some vidios on line of him taking sheep and hogs out to 1300/1400 mtrs. It can be done without special dies. Then Charlie Wells and Dave Kiff (PTG) got together and changed the 7 Practical a little; removed some case taper and changed the shoulder angle from the 25* of the 300 Win. Mag. to 37* to reduce/almost stop case growth and came up with the 7mm Valkyrie, which is what I've built with a slightly shorter throat because I'm not planning on shooting 190 + gr. Bergers. So far mine is showing alot of promise. The 7 Practical is just that, practical, and watch the vidios and see for yourself. Good luck, Paul P.S. by the way, PTG has the drawings for 2 7mm Practicals and 2 or 3 7mm Valkyries. All of them with minor changes.
