Any experience w/Lapua Scenar .338, 300gr?

I'm new to LR shooting, actually new to reloading. I have a rifle in .338 cal which I am looking for the best 300 gr. bullet it'll shoot. I have not heard anyting about the Lapua Scenar 300gr., and wonder if anybody has any experience with it. I'd like to think it'll do well as a hunting bullet also, as I have heard some find the SMK 300 gr. to work well for hunting.

Lapua Scenar is very accurate and consistant, but is not a good hunting bullet. It's very hard and does'nt open well. The sierra is a good bullet for heavy game like elk but you should aim for bone on most animals, especially deer, to enhance expansion.
I like the Berger Hybrid. It's the most consistantly accurate bullet I've ever shot. And It's a real killer on game.
You may want to give them a try.

I beg to differ with you the 300 grain .338 is a very good hunting bullet, My 600 yard gong is 1.5" thick and my .338 lapua and .338 ultra are going over half way through it. There isn't anything on the north American continent that you couldn't take with either of those combo's.

I've used the Lapua and the Berger 300gr .338 bullets. I normally perfer Berger, but I wasn't all that impressed with the 300gr Hybrid. I push my .338 Lapua pretty hard, so I may have been experiencing nose slump with the Bergers.

What's nose slump? Do you mean they weren't stabilizing?

Not saying the 300's are a bad bullet. Just takes alot of heavy resistance to make them open, which is detrimental to quick kills. The Lapua tends to pencil through without opening. Use what works for you.
