Any differnece in dimension between 6.5-08 and 260 Remington?

Is there any difference in the dimensions on a 6.5-08 reamer and 260 Remington?

Will reddings 260 Rem dies work with a chamber reamed with a 6.5-08 reamer?

There is really no way to tell if a custom made reamer which it has to be for the 6.5-08 will be exactly like somebody else custom made reamer for the 6.5-08 would be let alone your 6.5-08 chamber being the same as a SAAMI 260 Rem chamber unless you measure each one individually. I would do a chamber cast of your rifle chamber and compare it with the measurements of a SAAMI 260 chamber. Here is one thing I found out about the 260 Rem that my buddy had when we were making cases for it. This was when Rem first came out with the rifles chambered for 260 and you could not find any ammo or cases for a while so you had to make your own. We started out using 308 cases and found that the necks were quite shorter in length than the trim to length for the 260 Rem. We started using 243 cases and they came out perfect or we had to trim them just a little. I don't know if the 6.5-08 chamber is set up for that shorter length neck than the 260 or not.

When Scott Medesha chambered my upper he used a 6.5-08 reamer. When talking to him he said that the case length was 2.015-2.020' So yes it does have a shorter length neck accoring to him. However I've ran .260 cases trimmed at 2.035 and haven't had a problem so who knows.

Heman,
The original 6.5x08 was based on the .308 cartridge. Thats why the trim to length of 2.015' is used. Remington designed the .260 to have a trim to length of 2.035'
Shooting .260 cartridges in a 6.5x08 chamber will have a significant pressure increase. There is a real reason Scott Medesha told you to trim your cases to this length, they are too long!
Hope you heed his warning,
Tony
