Any 6.8 Love in here ??

Currently running 6.8 spc Daniel Defense for hogs in Northeast Ga.. Dont see any posts in here about this caliber ???

You probably won't see anything here about a 6.8, but there is a dedicated 6.8 forum. I have 1, nice round but I haven't shot anything but steel & paper so far. Need to put something on the ground with it.

You probably won't see anything here about a 6.8? Shame on you for thinking that way.;):D

I happened to pick up a piece of 6.8 SPC brass at the range. Had never seen any before that. Looked interesting so I did some digging. Found the 6.8 forum. Also found that "most" of the talk was about the 6.8 on AR platforms. Not my style. Didn't want to change my Colt to 6.8 and not like the finished product.
Ordered up a 6.8 SPC chambered straight pipe barrel for my Savage from Pac Nor and dies from RCBS. Picked up brass from SSA and had loaded ammo ready when I got my chambered barrel back. Went with the SPC chamber rather than the SPC II. Shorter throat so I could start off jamming the bullets. Turned out to be a bug hole shooter.;) More pep than the .223/5.56 and less recoil than the .308/7.62.
Liked it so much that it got me to thinking. If the "30 BR' is such a hot item, why not try doing a 6.8 BR?
Made up a dummy round from Lapua 6BR brass, shipped it off to PTG and had them cut me a reamer to those specs. Found out the 6.8 BR was a FIRST for them. Picked up a cheap barrel to try it out on. Better than spending BIG $$$ on a barrel and not liking the round. Shipped the blank and reamer to "Preacher" and had him do his magic in nothing flat.
It turn turned out to be another bug hole maker. Bang small groups on steel out to 100 yards no problem. A little "hold over" without making any scope adjustments gets good groups at 400 + yards.
I start off with the lightest bullets I can get my hands, jammed .010 into the lands. Deadly accurate.
FPS? Never checked. Who cares, as long as they're all going in the same hole.:D
There WAS a big discussion about the lack of bullet selection for the 6.8? Got a chart from the 6.8 Forum with a BUNCH of bullets listed for the 6.8 so that discussion ended up going nowhere. I think I like my 6.8 BR more than the 6.8 SPC.

I’ve had a 6.8 Spc AR ever since the ammo and components have been available. It’s a good shooting round, and a great in the woods deer rifle. It’s also popular for hunting feral pigs.

I've got one in an AR pistol that I shoot 110gr vmax with and a contender that I run 130 bergers in and have shot them out to 1k. I like the round, never shot an animal past 300 with it but killed a fair number under 300

Been shooting one in prone steel matches for about 5 years, I have 2 24" ar uppers. Love the little round! It can be plenty accurate and good out to about 600m. I push 110gr BTHP at about 2750ish. The 120TMT I push at about 2700. My dad has a 24" match upper and an 18" hunting ar, my mom a 16" hunting AR, all in 6.8spcII.

I've been looking at adding a 6.8 SPC Contender barrel to add some inches to it. It's another cartridge that helps me burn these 3 kegs of H322.

6.8BR ? The ill-fated 7mm BR died a quiet death some years ago. The pistol silhouette guys liked it and I know of one that chambered a Chinese 7.62 rifle with a Tru-flyte barrel, that worked quite well as a bush hunter. (Wonder what happened to that gun after his death ?) Another mate made, and still has a 6.5mmBR, and that shot well-ish.

The main difference was that the brass used large primers ( and a 7mm hole in the top!)

I did a 27x47 Lap for a mate. Rem 700, Kreiger VS 10 twist and full case of 4895 behind a 90gn TNT. This thing is stupid accurate and nothing gets back up when hit.
You know when a rifle just wants to shoot and this thing is one of those. It makes the cleanest "crack" when fired.
I'm keen to try some 130 Bergers and stretch its legs soon.

I think it's the name. 6.8 SPC has no pizzaz. Not like Grendel or Valkrye or Creedmoor. Gotta have a great name, otherwise it's just another round.

I have several 6.8 SPC, they are by far my favorite AR round. Easy to shoot and easy to tune. Couldn't recommend a better hunting AR caliber. I've shot 90gr GD, 110 Vmax, 110 Nosler CC, 115 GD and 120 SSTs. All very accurate.

Has anybody done up a...... 6.8 Creedmore.

I sent an email to PTG about a 6.8 Creedmore spec'd to the 130 Accubond after I made up a dummy round. Never heard back from them. Lost interest in the project. I had planned on using a Rem Model 7 and a Wilson barrel.

6.5 creedmoor necked up, 130 Accubond and a 243 necked up. They look interesting.

I have an 6.8 spc and a .22 spc in an ar. Both work well for general shooting applications. The .22 is roughly a 1/2 moa gun. The 6.8 more in the 3/4 range. Both shoot well for their purpose.

I have 2- 6.8s, both in AR form, one a 16", one an 18. the six 8 shines from a short barrel for which it was intended for, my 16" gun collapsed is 31" long, when I carry a center fire it's my go to carry gun, great in the woods for deer and very accurate, it kills very effectively out to 300 or so with the 110 pro hunter. THE best AR caliber going as far as I'm concerned, very underrated.

And yes I have had the Grendel as well, good caliber IF you want to run a longer barrel but from a short tube the six 8 wins hands down.
