any 41 mag

It’s been my mainstay. That and 414 SM in TC G2 carbine. Lastly, picked up a S&W 41M 4” in barely used, blued, pinned bbl, TH/TT.

My favorite pistol caliber.

I have a couple Freedom Arms in 41 as well as many Smith and Wessons.

I wanted a Bighorn Armory lever action in 41 but they were not interested in making one. So I dug through a pile of Henrys and picked out the best.

I burn a lot of Universal Clays and Vhit N110 under cast 225s and XTPs.

It's on my wish list. When everyone was crazy over the 29 and Dirty Harry weird me thought if only I could have the .41M. Maybe one of these years.

I have 3-657's. a 5" heavy barrel. a 6" heavy barrel. a 6" skinny barrel and a model 58, That been satin nickled. Carried to Alaska in a chest rig.

I've had a number of S&W and Ruger 41 Mgs. I liked the M-57 and a couple of 'custom shop' models. I also had a Marlin 41Mag. lever action, for a short time, it never would feed properly. I carried the Rugers, cross draw, when on horseback in grizzly bear country. Thankfully I never needed to demonstrate my ability or stupidity. Elmer Keith's idea was, the 41 Mag. would be half way 357 and 44 Mag. and shoot a 200 gr. bullet. I usually loaded 200gr. hard cast and jacketed over 2400 powder. I loaded some 210 gr. bullets at about the same velocity. Five percent more bullet weight seemed to increase the recoil much more than 5%. It may have just been in my head. The 200 gr. recoil was manageable, I didn't load them to the max. Elmer thought the 44 Mag recoil maybe too much for many people and the 41 Mag with the 200 gr. would be a better choice. Of course the secrete is shoot, shoot, shoot, then shoot some more.

Never owned one but I had 3 .44 magnums. Then I shot a .41 mag and said WOW this is nice.
Maybe one day I'll stumble across or intentionally set out to get one.

Yes, it’s the 1st handgun cartridge I reloaded for, a 6 1/2” Blackhawk. Then came a Redhawk, a Smith 57, two Dans, and a Marlin lever gun. Always watching for a 414SuperMag…….

I remember seeing pictures of a 57 with the long barrel and four-position metallic silhouette front sight. It may have been in Shooting Times(?). But I never came across one. I’m not sure if it ever went to production? I did come across a couple 29’s with that setup.

I have 4 of them. 6 1/2" & 4 5/8" 3 screw Blackhawks, a 4" S&W M57, and my newest a Freedom Arms M97 5 1/2" octogon. I have lots of wheel guns (all Ruger SA and S&W) but 41's are my favorite.

I have a .41 Taurus Raging Bull, not very common, but a nice gun. Did a doe last month at 59 yds. with a 200 gr. Speer half jacket HP (drt). An old bullet, but better than many new ones.
Never had much luck on deer with .41 XTPs- poor penetration & damage, but they shoot very good in my Bull. Used them at the end of the summer on one of my groundhog sites. Got 3 'hogs in 30 minutes at 45, 59, & 85 yds. The "odd" one was the long shot. It's my 4th albino I've shot. Not many people have ever seen one. This one is the 2nd largest bodied groundhog I've ever shot. #1 was 17#. Never weighed this one, but he was really big.20250919_184918.jpg

If I didn't have a 357 or 44 and started out my handgun shooting with a 41 Mag I would have never looked at the other two. I love the 41 Mag its such a balanced cartridge. But if you have the other two its kinda redundant. You can up or down load a 44 to do anything a 41 can do.

41 magnum, 44 special and 45 Colt
My 3 favorites! Pictured is a Super Blackhawk Hunter in .41 mag. Most accurate revolver I've ever fired! 6 shots with 185gr cast under .75 pretty consistently! The other is a transition model Smith 57. Note the unpinned barrel yet it still has recessed cylinder.
