I am putting the finishing touches on a 22-243 rifle for my wife. I plan on using 80gr Sierra MK bullets. She will be shooting F-Class out to 600 yds. Any help or load suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott

Here is the latest info on the project....
Rem 700 SA with Jewell Trigger
31" Hart 1X8" heavy Palma contour
Std B&C glass stock with the channel widened and painted hot pink with lace shadow effects, 1st version Sinclair F-Class Bipod
,My Wife can't decide between McMillian or wood for the final stock)
20X Supersniper scope,Nightforce if she shoots more)

Loads so far: 243 Lapua necked down, with 40 and 40.5gr H4831SC
with 80gr SMK. Limited by scope and bench technique but at 100 yds, both loads were .2" 5 shot groups. Going to try 41.0gr with moly'd 80's at 600 tomorrow.....

Wow, not too many of us 22-243 shooters it seems. I'm using RL22 in mine, action is trued Rem700, barrel 29" Brux 1-8". My 75gr Amax and 75BTHP loads max out at 45.8grs of RL22 and my 80gr Berger and Amax loads max out at 44.5grs RL22. These are shooting sub .5" groups and are running close to 3700fps. Next stop is to try some RL25. Most of my longrange target practice is on Feral pigs with all shots in the 250-350 range. It will dump a 100lb pig on it's nose, the bigger porkers stumble around a little before keeling over. This is one of the easiest wildcats I've ever worked with, no case forming necessary with accuracy right from the start.

I shoot 46 grains of RL25, 210M, or CCI 200 with 80Gr Bergers, 1 in 8.5 twist sub .2 at 100 and around 3/4 inch at 500 on the rare calm days in Campell county Wyoming. I seat my bullets at .012 off the lands in my gun.
Best of luck & God bless,
Chuck

Thanks for your comments guys...My wife shot at our club F-class league with the rifle last week. She hates the Supersniper, ordered a 8-32 BR Nightforce 2-DD scope the next morning. She struggled with the scope and had tough wind but shot really well. Sounds like I'll be trying reloader 22 and 25 with some more loads.

I don't understand why this cartridge isn't more popular. It is easy to load and shoot, great accuracy and velocity. Barrels are cheap when one considers all the other costs associated with shooting now days!

Another powder to try that we use from time to time is Accurate 8700 starting around 40 grains.
Best of luck and God bless,
Chuck
