Anti-static mats under scales?

I've always wiped everything lightly with a dryer sheet. Opened the dryer sheet all the way and set the scale on top. Never had problems with static after that.

To be really useful, the mat should be under the user as well - a static charge carried by your body can have a major influence, and discharging it to the scale could damage the scale.

Use a mat on the work bench and on the floor.
Both should be connected to an earth ground.
If you can scrounge up an anti-static wrist strap you can try wearing one of those too.
Most homes have an earth ground. All you need is a cheap piece of wire to run to the bar.

This video shows some sources of static charges.
