i picked up an Anschutz 54 from a great fella here on the forum. It came with an extra rough duplicated stock. The stock was kind of similar to the old Anschutz prone stock, but had a really high comb and was larger in overall size. Snice I have two young kids and a busy job, I needed s long term project (like I needed another whole in my head). But I wanted a good smallbore gun that resembled my prone rifles. So I did the following....
Reshape the stock
Cut the butt and fore end to length
Final inletting on action, barrel channel and hand stop rail
Installed pillars and glass bedded it
Shaped the cheek piece to my face
Cut the comb off and installed McMillan hardware
All the inletting and shaping was done with hand tools. Used my buddy's woodworking shop to build a fixture to cut the butt, fore end and cheek piece. FYI, you can use a table saw to create and adjustable cheek piece. You just gotta go slow.
After all the work, the rifle has proven to be a shooter.
