ANSCHUTZ 54 scope mount

I use a DIP rail on my F-Class Annie 1813
It holds zero and doesn't move under any recoil with a heavy scope.

@orkan calling for assistance
^ He is correct.

Had a 54.18 MSR. With a rail, it would not shoot very well, and I tried several rails. Really wanted pic rail. None would perform. On someone else's suggestion, I got the rings linked above. Rifle started shooting in the .2's at 50yds immediately. No other changes.

Annies are/can be finicky like that. ... which I have grown to despise. The anschutz tribal knowledge does not often readily track with conventional wisdom in the precision rifle world either. There are things that ONLY apply to annies. The annie tribe revels in this, but I grew tired of having to position my tongue correctly inside my mouth in order to get the rifles to consistently shoot small. ;)

There's no explanation that would account for either.

If a rail is properly mounted on an Anschutz, there's no reason for it to affect performance. Same for dovetail rings. Anschutz rifles are not finicky that way.

Well, the rails can slide on and be secured by set screws or attached by hold down screws, if the action is drilled and tapped ,,,,, depending on the Anschutz action ,,,,,,Orkan had an instance that he shared , I remembered the instance and thought I would bring it up to maybe help someone if they had a strange problem pop up , but there are so many know it alls , and this is not the way it is people , and not what my buddy says or not what I read on and on and on , I was just trying to help with a scenario an instance of a problem that has popped up in the past with a person with a question to a old discussion
This is why I do not do much discussing on the internet , all you freaking know it alls ,

I think I will go back to reading and being quiet

Well, you know how us Annie owners are, we are very protective of our ladies:)
but on the problem mentioned I am thinking it had to do with bridging the loading port meaning having the scope attached across the port. action flex can induce stress on the scope tube.
I don't think it was the rail themselves, I been using them for years on my Anschutz, but the scope is mounted behind or in front of the port. even other rifles I do the same.

My 54.18 and 1727 both have rails that are bedded in place. The 1727 has a 34mm S&B scope on top.

The before and after accuracy testing from an indoor machine rest here at the Olympic Training Center showed zero change in accuracy.

I never had issues with Sportsmatch rings. I use standard and the extended versions depending on the scope. I have different heights, and that makes a difference in head placement, hence accuracy.

You don't say what 54 model you have, and what you are going to use it for. Both bear upon advice that is meaningful. On a 1710 repeater used for NRL/PRS type matches, I use a 20 MOA Area 419 rail to mount an Arken scope. On an older Hart barreled 1407 that I use for 100- 300 yard club matches there is a dovetail only on the rear of the receiver. I found a picatinny rail (I think UTG) that clamps solidly onto the dovetail and has a rail section that cantilevers forward to mount a Vortex Golden Eagle. On my 1913 in a BR-50 stock for 50 yard matches I use BKL rings clamped directly to the dovetail on the front and rear of the receiver to mount a 36X Weaver scope. All work well for their intended purpose. I second the advice to keep it as simple as possible and pay attention to torque values to assure a solid connection. Several folks have mentioned BKL rings that clamp directly to the dovetail. I use them on several rifles shot from the bench and have been very happy with them.
