Anschutz 1710 help deciding on stock configuration please.

I am new to this forum and was wondering if someone might help me please. I am in the process of purchasing a new gun and cannot decide what the best style of stock is. The choice is between a standard classic style stock or a monte Carlo style stock. I have never had a gun with a Monte Carlo set up before. With the Anschutz 1710 it seems that if I get the monte Carlo style stock I also get iron sites. If I go with the standard classic style stock I get no sites however I get a heavier barrel. This gun will be used primarily for squirrels and groundhogs as well as target shooting. This will be my first high-end rimfire. I am also concerned with how the style of stock may impact the potential resale value should I decide to sell it one day. I would truly appreciate any opinions you all may offer thank you.

If I were spending that much money I would not purchase one until I had an opportunity to handle one of each.

I have owned both and I prefer the classic stock for a hunting rifle, for me it is faster to get the correct head position with a classic, but I have shot smallbore silhouette for many years and for that discipline I preferred the rollover cheekpiece. The higher rollover cheekpiece forces the shooter to use a more upright head position, which is desirable in off-hand competition.

If you have not handled one with the rollover cheekpiece you should be aware that it is more exaggerated than what is commonly thought of as a monte carlo cheekpiece. Another consideration may be if someone who is left-handed may be using the rifle sometimes, it is near impossible to shoot one with the rollover cheekpiece left-handed.

I now shoot a Cooper and I solved the problem by having two stocks, one a classic style for hunting use and one with the rollover cheekpiece for smallbore silhouette.

I have a 1710 HB which I use for tactical precision type matches where most stages are shot with a bipod. So, if you think you will ever be shooting it with a bipod, I suggest the classic stock as the monte carlo also has a schnabel on the fore-end of the stock and doesn't handle a bipod nearly as well as the classic.....just something else to think about.
