Another stock ?

Anyone have any suggestions on how to remove the old gloss finish from rifling? I hate to sand it--prefer to keep the sharp points--but want to give the stock a new satin or oil finish coat. The other strand talked about linseed oil--Brownells has a Linspeed oil product that works great as a finish coat. A little goes a long way and it dries very fast.

Opps, my bad--Yes I meant checkering. Thanks for the catch--what stripper do you recommend? Some of that stuff is so harsh it'll take out the lands and groves. Just kidding.

Havent refinished anything for a couple years, but anything Formby's should work--they make a spray can as well--I have some but haven't tried it yet.

Then rinse with mineral spirits/paint thinner etc.

let me know how it goes ;)
