Another project 64 Vs 54

I have two 64 MPR's that shoot very well, in the one's and two's. They have both been reworked and bedded, one has an aftermarket barrel. Always wanting/wondering if there's something better, Ive been debating whats next...I love the 64's because there left handed repeaters. I cant find any other high end/custom left hand repeater thats worth a damn. I spoke with turbo, hall, baity and nothing seems to function like the Annie. On the road today and found a new left handed 1913 barreled action with trigger. Not a great price but not bad ($1700). Debating about picking it up and having Alex Sitman build me an F class stock for it. Wondering how much better the 54 action will be Vs the reworked 64's. Just looking for input, of course it wont be a repeater....Been looking for over a year for a left hand 54 repeater, they made them just been about 15-20 yrs.

Buy it and try it, it may be better or not.

If you have a 64 shooting in the .1's and .2's I have my doubts that the 54 is going to do better.

As above, you are shooting just fine with what you have.

$1700 is not that bad of a price from what I have seen. You should have the 5018 trigger on that which is a terrific (and expensive) piece of goods.

Sounds like you have an "itch" for something different. I too have a 64 and it too shoots in the 1's and 2's. But IMHO, if you already have two 64's, I'd want a 54 and see how they compare for myself. I've shot competitions before with my 64 and won a few and lost a few or placed 2nd or third (same as a loss to me) But from my experiences, the serious and consistent winner are shooting the 54's or have custom built rigs. Really depends on what you are after. But $1700 is really not surprising for a used 54 considering you could spend twice that amount for a new one. You might want to consider getting hold of Dan Killough at Killough Shooting Sports down in Texas. Dan is a good guy and very knowledgeable not to mention his association in the world of American Rimfire Association nationwide. He and his guys have always been helpful and honest as well as dealing and selling both new and used Anschutz rifle. Dan knows those rifles inside and out and can steer you in the right direction and maybe even find you what you are looking for.
