Another primer question

Over time it would seem likely to save on cost, they would standardize equipment (machinery) and procedures on
common components. Like primers, brass, and various other things.

I witness this being done in other production settings.

Sounds like a great formula for helping destroy the competitive shooting sports . Hopefully ; it won't be suggested to these corporate raider Hedge Fund managers .

Federal and CCI have been owned by the same company for YEARS. No changes. Why would you expect that to change with Remington being bought by the same company?

The same company owns three of the major powder brands, yet new powders are being offered in each of the brands with unique properties.

The fact that a single corporate entity owns a number of different primer manufacturers has nothing whatsoever to do with the actual formulation and manufacturing process used by each of those individual primer manufacturers. Until/unless that is changed by the owning corporate entity, there is nothing to worry about. From a business perspective, it is not really in Vista's best interest to force the primer manufacturers they own to use the exact same recipe, or make all the primers in the same facility, which would be stupidly expensive and would also greatly narrow consumer choice.

Also from a business perspective, an extension of the question you are asking becomes, just what are the ramifications of a single corporate entity owning multiple different manufacturers that each produce competing products? In a worse-case scenario, both competition and consumer choice could suffer dependent on the corporate owner's actions. It could certainly be argued that that is a bad idea from the consumer's point of view, but in actuality, it is not uncommon and the corporate ownership often allows their individual manufacturers to continue to operate almost as if they were still completely independent and competitors with one another. I believe the corporate owners have figured out they make more profit that way. Hopefully, that trend will continue and we will still have our choices of various primers. If not, the only thing I can hope for is that Federal's primer recipes are the ones that predominate, as I seem to have the best results with Fed primers. ;)

Ned nailed it completely , though my only difference with anything he said would be a preference for Remington primers .:D
