another headspace question

ok spun on tikka barrel and am getting a go gauge but had some fired brass and resized it and made each one different head space 1.630,1.629,1.628,1.627,1.626,1.625 and tried to chamber each one and bolt finely closed tight at 1.627 and down. So question is if i get go gauge thats 1.630 bolt wont close right so i need to do somthing different right....thanks again

How did you arrive at your numbers? I doubt your numbers can be compared to a precision ground gage.

IME, my Hornady/Stoney Point headspace comparator was good for relative measurements. You could
compare two items, and noting the difference, but my go gauges didn't measure what I thought they should, 1.630". You need to measure one with your comparator and not accept that it will measure 1.630". At that point, you'll know how your bumped brass will compare.

My SAC comparator measures a go gauge properly.

yea im no expert with these gauges ,its always a struggle and i guess the go gauge will tell story....thanks for replies

Brass was sized based on shoulder bump from another rifle/chamber? Was it from a barrel on this same receiver?
Or did you maximize bump by bottoming out the die onto the shellplate with hard cam-over?

You've got a lot of variables here. Check HS with a go gage on a stripped bolt. Add tape to the back of the gage until bolt handle doesn't fall to confirm no-go within specs. Then shoot it and size brass according to the new chamber.

yea its a new barrel on new receiver and was really just trying make sure barrel is correctly headspaced but came up with that brass idea will waiting for gauge...gauge will tell story thanks all
