Another downside of component shortages(graphic photo)

Made it out to a "new for me" farm on Saturday afternoon/evening. I am really excited as it offers shots to 500 yards+ shots! I setup and smoked #50 for me at 132 yards with the .17 Ackley Hornet to keep the noise level lower. A bit later I get a taker at a laser ranged 420 yards. I checked my "Shooter" S/W for my .223AI with the 80 grain A-Max and it calls for 19 clicks/4.8 MOA come-up. I dialed it up and watched it forever, it seemed, for it to stand up. Finally I caved and took a raised head/shoulder shot. At the shot it disappeared and was not seen again. A while later one came out in the cut Alfalfa at 392 yards and again I checked the S/W and dialed up. I heard the hit and the Chuck was DRT. I saw another later in a low/young Soybean field but had the Ackley Hornet for the walk and tried to close the 367 yards via a Cornfield but when I emerged 150 yards closer it was gone.
I went for the cleanup walk and I noticed I hit the 392 much lower than my aim.

Nothing at the 420 and I packed up a went home. Today I went to the range to verify my scope which I have been neglecting due to the component shortage. Low and behold I am 1 MOA low! I checked the .17 Fireball and .17 Ackley Hornet and only small moves were required. Fortunately I know where the one I missed lives and like MacArthur "I shall return"!

Good report, MrM. IIRC, you live in south central PA and I thought you should be able to find some farms with some lengthy shots. At 420 yards, you would have been 4.2" low being 1 MOA low at 100. Just enough to miss a feeding hog.
I would also like to mention that at the longer yardages, I prefer the g'hogs to be feeding rather than standing. That is assuming I can get an accurate range reading as I trust my elevation adjustment more than my wind reading skills.
