It is with tears in my eyes that I say goodbye to my best buddy for these last fourteen years.

Aspendale's Gun Smoke, AKA Gunner, Gundog, Gun, took his last ride in the rig today. I know that there's a bunch of y'all who know the kind of pain I'm going through right now, and yeah, I'll accept your prayers and sympathy. jd

These darn dogs! They have a way of sneaking deep into our hearts. Our oldest pooch was this week diagnosed with cancer. When she gets sicker I have no idea who's taking her to the vet. Remember the good times you had with your pup and that you gave him a good life.

Sorry for your loss. Just thinking back about that experience is like a stab in the heart.Peace be with you friend. Jeff

So sorry for your loss. I have been through it myself and it is amazing how much it can hurt . . . it really is losing a loved family member.

Sorry about Gunner JD, I know it's tough as we lost Monster this year.
We picked out a tree for his grave, and have him buried so as we can see him and think of all the love he gave.

Sincerest condolences. The hurt cuts deep..... though their pawsitive memories remain for a lifetime. Few if any things are better than the companionship of dog in my world. They define unconditional love.

Time will heal and another genuinely appreciative companion will be there for your love when you're ready.

Gunner was a large, fourteen year old dog. As ya might imagine, we've known that this day was coming for quite awhile. I even thought that I had accepted the fact, and that it wouldn't be too bad. I was wrong about that assumption.

I really appreciate everyone who is offering their sympathy, and I apologize to anyone out there who has never loved a dog, and might be rolling their eyes. jd

If someone is rolling their eyes then they’ve never had a dog. My deep heart felt sympathy to you. Ashamed to admit but hurts as bad as any other human family member i have lost. Jd put of few pics up of gunner and look at them as you pass by and in week or two start looking in paper or online for a new pup. I got in hot water here with the bride for getting new puppy few weeks after my dog died but she didn’t set bed on fire with me in it and i believe new pup is loved even more than 1st and my wife is not what i would call an animal lover. In my book there’s nothing like mans best friend beside you

Sorry for your loss, it really sucks when they leave us. I still miss my Roxy (a boxer) from 26 months ago. It's a hard road to travel for sure. Best wishes.

ETA:
Her bed is still in our MBR as she slept in there with us the majority of her life, her ashes have rested on her bed since we brought her back home. Still have the basket of her toys in the corner too.
