Annealing

I re-size after annealing, but I would rather re-size before I anneal because the expander doesn't drag near as much.

Is there any problem with doing this? I know about everyone re-sizes first.

ETA fix question.

KenO, I think you said the same thing twice in your first sentence. If you're asking if it is ok to anneal then resize, the answer is yes. It shouldn't hurt anything other than you are starting to work harden the brass with the sizing operation after you have annealed. I doubt you are going to be able to tell it. My two cents worth.

Annealing causes the inside of the necks to "dry out?" causing the drag you are experiencing. Use a bore brush after annealing and run it in and out of the neck and this problem should go away.

My memory may be failing me, but I recall nearly all the annealing articles I've seen, including the ones on this site, recommmend that you size after you anneal. I know with the Ken Light gizmo he says to size after annealing.

+1 on using a bore brush inside the neck after annealing to eliminate the "drag."

Two major goals in annealing w/o reforming cases. One to elimianate neck or shoulder cracking, second to establish uniform neck tension(one or two othres in retrospect, but they are more obscure). In both cases the goals are observed. If the sizing is done prior to annealing, you can be relatively certain of dimensional variance. Cleaning nterior necks before sizing is always a good idea.

I measured the neck diameter of 20 .264WM cases before and after annealing. Here are the results I got:

Before Average - 0.28855"
Standard Deviation - 0.00024"

After Average - 0.28856"
Standard Deviation - 0.00024"
