Annealing temperature indicators

DIY induction was the route I took.

Not necesssarily cost effective, but by painting the neck/shoulder and by adjusting the timing, until I got the required result, life thereafter was always repeatable.

FWIW, Hornady sell an annealing kit and indicate that 450 degree tempilaq applied on the case body about 1/4 inch below the shoulder will melt when the neck has reached 750 - 800 deg, being the optimum temp for annealing case necks. The tempilaq is easier to see melt when applied at this point on the outside of the case body rather than inside the case neck for example. With the gas directed to the neck, it will heat up more rapidly and transmit heat down the case - meaning 750-800 at the neck equates to about 450 below the shoulder, provided the heat is not applied too long.
