I would think if you used Kevin Crams tool that goes in and opens up the hole some and chamfers it that it would help those bullets open up some. I believe Bullets open from Hydraulics. Annealing could maybe just make them Flatten slightly and not open. Matt
well kids here we have bullets that are so tuff that they dont work,,,I agree with the above poster that the bullet should shed its energy in the carcas of the animal and not shoot thru and kill a pine tree or rock on the other side
A few years ago in N. Idaho a hunter was charged by Fish and Game with taking two elk on one tag - with one shot. He reported his own violation, or no one would have been the wiser. (No good deed goes unpunished.) They finally dropped the charges, but it was a near thing. Turns out the hunter is responsible for whatever happens to be hidden behind the animal he's trying to harvest. He was probably shooting a 338 Win Mag if I had to guess.
A lot of the outfitters here in the west just hate to see clients show up with what the call bullets that you can shoot a caped buffalo from nose to tail!!! I really like the idea of trimming and chamfering of the bullet tip with the tool that Kevin Crams makes, I have had him do some work for me and I was very pleased with him he is a good guy. I had thought about trimming the tip back but was concerned about consistency his tool tacks care of that, Ron
