Annealing before forming 20VT?

Is is necessary to anneal once fired 221 FB brass before forming it into 20 Vartarg? My dies have shipped and I have some brass on hand although my barrel is still six weeks out.

Just an opinion - I'm thinking not necessary but definitely afterwardsill find out though as I have some VarTarg and Bobcat to process myself.

Form it, then anneal.

what I found out is, if you anneal first, the brass is to soft to hold up to the forming process and you will lose some cases, the necks collapse down inside.

Neck down in sizer die, load, fire-form, then anneal.

You can conduct load testing while fire-forming brass too. I saw virtually no difference in accuracy before and after forming.

I’ve annealed before and after forming and they both worked. Also annealed before and after fireforming and it worked fine both ways. My best results, getting the best concentricity and length, was to form then anneal then fireform and anneal again.
