And speaking of Old Fashioned Rifles

I just finished putting this together.

It's a FAKE clone of a USMC 1903 Sniper.

It has a new manufacture CMP C-stock, a 1942 NOS Springfield barrel, a 1942 Springfield reciver.
The scope is a 16X Unertl that I got for short money as the cross hairs were broken.
I had it re-done buy Mr. Parson ( God Reast His Soul )

I finished the assembly right after Christmas on Monday, as I closed my business that day.

Tomorrow I'll shoot it and see what I made :-) It's the first time I ever made a rifle

What a beautiful rifle! That's so nicely done, congratulations - I have no doubt it will bring many smiles and memorable days!

Great looking rifle! That will be a LOT of fun at the range.

Good work, and thanks for sharing that very special piece of gear.

I have to get a drool cup as seeing such a cool rifle as this is actually exciting.I still have an nos barrel that someday will get used.I have 4 o3's and 03-a3's.My 03 has a star gaged barrel on it,it was an arsenal rebuild from utah and it had never been fired until I bought it for 250.00 from a disbanding vfw post.It even has a real scant c stock on it.I absolutely love the 03's and the 30-06 round. When I was younger I shot a 10 shot group at about 125 yds with open sights and went down to check it out and the group measured less than an inch with rapid fire.I was thrilled. Keep us updated with your shooting results.I really like the unertl scope. It is one sweet rifle and I bet it shoots. Are you running a 2 groove or a 4 groove barrel.I actually like the 2 groove as I have seen wonderful accuracy from them.Good Luck

Good job! Thank you for not doing a bubba job to it. It should bring you many years of great shooting. I hope it shoots as well as it looks. Even if it does not you will still look cool. Heck that counts for a lot in shooting.

I had a chance to scoot up to the range today with the rifle.

I brought some M-2 greek ball and some hand loads.

My hand loads were picked out of Sierra's data.

I used thier accuracy loads for the most part.

Powder was IMR4350.
Primer was Reminton 9 1/2
Cases were new Winchester that I found under the bench , 5 bags! :-)

I shot this at 200 yards. I didn't have alot of time today to devote to my hobby, but needed to shoot.

I started @200 and after breaking some skeets decided to put it all on paper.

The lower left hand group was Greek M-2 ball, various dates and not sorted.

Lower right was a 175 SMK.

:-) Upper left was a Lapua D46.

I really wanted that bullit to shoot good.

As time goes on I'll taylor loads but the rifle seems to work.

All from an old fashioned/ war surplus American rifle.

Nice shooting! I love the D46, have shot many good scores with it and I always keep a good stock of them. They aren't fancy, but they will shoot well in just about anything!

I'm pretty happy with the whole project.

I'll fool with it some more and play with all the usual concerning ammo and loading.

Who knows what it'll do?

Perhaps this summer I'll hook a travel trailer to my F350 and head out to AZ for some shootin.

Mabey I'll do something twisted and bring a muzzle loader as well and wing some 500 plus grain home made NH "boolits" out to 600 yds or so using sights :-)

I'm just that way
