We did a re model to our house 15 years ago and the old garage is my shop. About 10pm last night my 18yo daughter opens the door from inside the house to tell me something and looks down and sees this guy on the steps IN my shop. About 2.5’ long with 7 buzzers.

He doesn’t look friendly……
they are not pets for sure.
As far as killing them, I understand you are afraid of them. However, they make great mousers. And, because they are reptiles, they aren't susceptable to bubonic plague or rabies, that rodents carry. Which have killed far more people than rattlesnakes. Not saying they don't make you jumpy, it's in both our natures. I've found that overcoming that fear and relocating them is better for our environment.
I will say that in this case (in your home/garage/shop) sometimes close is too close.

I’m glad she saw it!

We had one on our front porch coiled in a corner by a bucket we keep the hose in, my wife saw it. The grand baby’s were visiting and play out there all the time. He got the death penalty and my wife puts out snake repellent three times a summer now. Small pellets that smell like moth balls. They are rare around here in the first place but they certainly aren’t welcome around the house.

All non poisonous around here but the wife is scared senseless of any snake. I don't kill them, catch bull and garter. Release them in good bushy habitat several miles away. Wife is alright with that. When I bowhunted antelope in SD, crawling around stalking in the grasslands I just kept my bow out front. Figure the bow would make them shake and I wouldn't put my face on one.
