an honest answer

I am asking this question of the group to get an answer that I know will probably be scoffed at, but will none the less be honest. I am in the process( almost 4 yrs due to money) of having built my very first custom rifle. It started out as a just because gun, then kinda morphed into a purpose built out to 1k rifle. It is a Tikka t3 270wsm. I am keeping the caliber as is since Matrix came out with some nice high bc, heavy for calibrer bullets. Brux #10 8 twist. Will be purchasing a Manners t4 to put it in. I have a Vortex 6x24x50 ffp viper for the glass. I have a very competent smith who will be blu printing the action,building and designing everything needed to complete build. Now, to the question. My plan is to ,at some point, after load development is complete to take it to Williamsport and shoot 1k. With what I have, would that be even remotely possible? What would I enter it as? I have seen the rigs you guys and gals run up there. This will not be even close.any help, words or encouragment , suggestions. If I am off base , please let me know.

Light gun is 17 pounds and that is pretty much all the rules. It should have a fairly stiff barrel or heat will hurt you. You can come and shoot it the Friday night before a Match. Matt

Sounds like a hunting gun, not one for target.

You have chosen a cartridge that's going to burn lots of powder,get things hot and has little target use history. You have a scope that will be a bit of a handicap against the target scopes normally shot on target lines.

If it does not work out, keep a "Plan B" in mind for the equipment.

I used to shoot a 270win, not exactly the same but obviously pretty close. I shot it at 1K a few times, tons of fun but nowhere near competitive.
