AMT Lighting

My dad just gave my 6year old son a brand new AMT Lighting
its never been fired. He said it was built in the 70s and thats all he knew about it.. my question is whats this thing worth, should i let him shoot it?e

Never had a Lightning but own a Challenge Edition. The Lightning's usually fetch between $3-400 on Gunbroker. Rarely see one @ 3ish usually $350 and up with condition being the key. Would think a NIB would fetch over $400 if you weren't in a hurry to sell(which I know your not, just saying) and it has the folding stock etc it may well bring closer to 5. Just need the right buyer with a thing for AMT items. They have been out of production for quite a few yrs now so I doubt there are many NIB in existence. Not much help I know.....

Buy him a new Ruger and stash the AMT for his college graduation reward. Will surely be worth more than a comparable Ruger by then unless the economy really does crash.lol

Have you got any pic's I built a AMT stainless 10/22 with lothar walthar barrel and mcmillan STC stock back in 1998. I have yet to see another. Has always been a good shooter despite being a semi auto. I would be interested if what the AMT lighting looks like. Thanks Scott

here are a couple pics..
