AMP Popping sound

Good Evening Guys,
Was annealing brass in the AMP. It made a popping sound and shut off. Would not turn on again. Checked the website and changed the fuse in the rear as it was blown. Also cleaned the induction port out. Turn it back on and it popped again. This time it stayed turned on. Could select correct settings but when I push start to anneal the machine doesn’t make the normal buzz sound and the brass is cold still and not annealed. Also has a faint burnt smell inside machine.
Any help or info from fellow members would be appreciated.
PS I do have an email into AMP about the issue.
Thanks Austin

Nope, clean with steel wool and a drill. Very meticulous to remove any remnants of wool that may get stuck on case
I occasionally hit with 0000 steel wool myself. I typically follow with acetone bath in mason jar. I started putting a magnet in bottom of acetone. Amazing the amount of steel wool that comes out of inside of case. I've also built racks/baskets that keep cases vertical mouth down while in the bath. I feel this allows better exit for steel wool particles. They adhere to magnet once out.

Doesn’t sound good regarding restoring operation of that unit! If I recall correctly, the manual states that any action by the owner to open the case voids the warranty. I’d wait for AMP’s response…

I have not read that personally but I imagine that would be the case. I just shut it off and will wait further instructions.

I know you have more then $1000 bucks in it and makes it
the real shame !! Do hope it gets sorted out quickly for you,
Austin.....

Off the topic but, did Yinz get signed up for Orangeburg this

No we opted to not sign up this year. I haven’t been shooting as much this year in general. Doing things around the house more this year. Gotta keep the peace! Haha

Just wondering, for repair work on an AMP, need it be sent all the way to Australia and back to achieve said repair? or, is there somewhere in US that can do the repairs? Hope it all works out well for you..

Describe the problem to AMP, they should tell ou what so look for if they give you permission to repair yourself. Below how to fix 2 common problems. The two problems they describe don't sound anything like yours. At least they are willing to help.

Remember that any static on your hands or whatever can instantly detroy an integrated circuit.

From the AMPS website. DIY fix. Get permission first so you don't void the warranty.

I could only imagine they would have authorized repair here
in the States.
I hope you’re right! But having watched AMP’s video on how the units are built/assembled, I’m thinking that repair will not be a cost effective remedy.

Straightforward fix if only a capacitor at fault
How old is the unit and how many cases anealed before unit went faulty.
