Amp Mate

Hey Folks,
I just got the Amp Mate to go with my annealer and it has been a pain. After setting it up and getting a case to cycle perfectly it would stop after each case was annealed and flash "stopping" on the annealer screen. So I searched possibilities and discovered maybe an up date was needed.
Looked for an update for the annealer- none found. Looked for the Amp Mate and one was there, so I downloaded it, installed it and now the amp mate as it starts up cycles thru to the annealing position and never returns from there. I called emailed the folks at AMP and they are out til Monday on break.
Just wondering if there is a know fix?

Honestly, I would never say anything negative about amp. They are a great company and they’re annealer is second to none. But I ended up returning my amp mate II. And they took it back no questions asked. I felt bad because shipping took New Zealand I’m sure was not cheap. Great company. No matter what I did, would not consistently work correctly.

Well I figured it out. It was the micro switch on the rear servo motor not being fully engaged by the ejector arm. The board thought it still had a case in that position so it signaled "jam" shutting the process down each time. A little bending w/o breaking and it is working.

Do not update any new equipment as they come with current updates and I actually downloaded and older version from the website and had to unload it.
There needs to better communication, literature and such on this thing.
No reason to tell us in the instructions the first thing to do is update, when it comes updated and we are actually installing an outdated update. So frustrating.

Matt emailed me a couple times, even though he was on vaca. I appreciated that. But all the steps were for not, as it was mechanical on their assembly end. Even Alex here in Vegas I believe, took the time to help me out as best he could.
I appreciate them, but their website videos, and paper instructions in the boxes need to be addressed. Also their equipment needs to be tried before releasing. No way this ever worked before it left. I moved that switch .12" before it started engaging.

I have an AMP Mate and have been very happy with it. It makes doing brass for myself/friends much easier. I just toss a few hundred pieces of brass in the casefeeder and do something else in the reloading room while it just does its thing.

i got the same setup and LOVE it. Have had it for little over 1.5 years and havnt had a single problem with it. on longer cases i do have to turn it down on the cycle feed speed in the amp to slow but other than that, its been awesome.

The only thing I wish it had was numerical/repeatable settings for the case eject. That alone would solve all of my complaints. I love it, but it can be finicky if that setting isn't 100%. I keep track of how many ups/downs from each case to another which helps but a reference value in the menu would be better.

that is true. i mostly shoot just my 6.5prc and 300prc and it does both cases perfect without touching a single thing. the only thing i have to do is adjust the plastic holder to allow the longer or shorter cases to slide in and the ejector works perfect on the same setting for both cases but i agree a numbered setting would be a huge benefit.

I set the 750 case feeder up and annealed 71 pcs without an issue. I have to fire form 200 more and do a seat/powder test on a bunch and will hope it stays consistent.

I got a few emails from Matt & AmpAnneal, and had me verify a few things. After we were done he asked to send the unit back for a replacement. Seems something going on in the carriage motor. He was very helpful. All this on a Sunday night. Great customer service. Now I may have to purchase the Amp press and have the trifecta complete. :)

Well a better change of plans, I think.... Matt @ AmpAnneal figured out they sent me a wrong power supply cord. The Amp Mate is a 24 v output system and I received a 12v cord. I tried a lap top power cord that is 19.5 V output and sure enough, the motor sped up and issues were resolved. Just a packing mistake from shippers sending out orders.
Am I dissapointed- sure. Especially since my AmpAnnealer also had a wrong USB cord, which they quickly sent me the correct one. This was a seperate issue about a month ago. Then a similar issue occurs again on the Amp Mate. They have issues they need to fix.
BUT both times their respone was quick and put me before their proofits.
I will take that every time.
I am a business owner, and none of us are perfect, but how we handle our mistakes speaks volumes

Great job Amp Anneal. I'm a satisfied customer.
