Santa was good to me. FEDEX delivered my new AMP Mark II annealer today. On three once-fired Lapua 308win cases (unsized and exterior wiped off with alcohol was only cleaning), I got these codes: 161, 161, 163. Is this in the ballpark of other‘s experiences?

Does their database of codes help?

Thanks. I believe those are the old codes for the standard program and not the AZTEC code that the machine generates.

highly recommend you go to amp’s website and read all their articles, might take a few hours of your spare time but you will gain a ton of insight.

to answer your question yes, your codes are completely normal, variations in the neck/shoulder thickness will generate different results.

Lapua 308, .0145 neck thickness, 165 Aztec setting.

This is once fired, unsized, unturned brass.

Hope this helps, sounds like yours is about right.

I've had an AMP with Aztec for a couple of years now. I've learned a lot about using it. Dont try to outsmart the machine. Do believe the code it gives you. If you turn necks, analyze a turned neck.

Yes the articles on the AMP site are very good and based on firm research methods. Read them all months before ordering the machine.

Thanks for info

I do some loading for my neighbor’s hunting guns, he gave me some oldish federal 308 brass to use. I get 155 with those, being that lapua is a little bit tougher your numbers sound spot on.

some random crappy winchester 223 brass i had laying around is 123, my good lapua is 140.

out of all the cartridges i have done, the highest aztec code i got is lapua 6.5 prc, which comes in at low 180’s
